Doug Smith - Founder & Principal
As an expert in marketing research, sales promotion, advertising and PR, Doug's primary role as SMS founder and president is leading the Smith Marketing Services team of communications professionals.
Doug's consulting specialties include evaluating, developing and launching successful new products, using existing services to increase product sales, and defining and prioritizing market segments to increase sales and profits.
Doug has taught marketing at his alma mater Ithaca College, lectured at Cornell University, and completed executive-level education in bank marketing, service selling, discovery driven planning, and customer information analysis.

John Hoeschele - Vice President & Creative Director
With 25 years of experience in the advertising business prior to joining SMS, Hoeschele has headed several ad agency creative departments, founded/run his own marketing consultancy, and also served as a marketing communications manager for a publicly traded wireless/defense company and internet-based industrial supply company. As such, he knows the agency and client sides of marketing communications discipline.
He has a track record of measurably successful B2B and B2C advertising campaigns to his credit; several industry awards (e.g. Syracuse Ad Club "Best of Show," several Addys, ProComm, Baxter, NAMA); has had his writing published in both trade and consumer venues; and was recognized by the CNY "40 under 40" awards in 1999.
Hoeschele holds a BA in English from SUNY College at New Paltz, where he graduated Cum Laude and studied a semester at the Middlesex Polytechnic in London, UK.
